MIL: Music Is Life Magazine Is here in Landover,MD with Yak Barracus, In your own words can you introduce yourself to our readers?

YAK: Im YAK,but Im way beyond crack/a little closer to heroine if u just follow my tracks/ they hailing me as a legend if u just follow the tracks// ......"In my own words of course(ha-ha), I know that introduction sucks but i had to do it.

MIL: How did you the name Yak Barracus?

YAK: Yak is a nickname i grew up with since a teen. I adopted the Barracus from the old television series A-Team ,which starred Mr. T as a character named B.A.(Bad ass) Barracus so i threw it on because it was fitting. (laughs)

MIL: How would you describe your rap style?

YAK: Slow,metephoric,punchlineic,ghetto,street ,bad ass speak.

MIL: Who influenced you to get into hip-hop?

YAK: My partner/brother "RENCE" , I had started writing some rhymes once while we were actually cellmates in upper marlboro jail, and when he heard me spit them he was like " can you write me some too, i want in" (laughs)....from then on i just kept pushing my pen. But i had played a rapping pirate in a play in elementary school so ive been kinda into rap since a child.

MIL: Where do you draw your inspiration for your writing?

YAK: My dying thirst to be recognized as one of the elite, and also other great artist.

MIL: You spent most of your rap carreer being in different groups , How diffcult is it for you to be a solo artist?

YAK: I look at the group situations like you see me in passing but we havent met, but being a solo artist is me introducing myself to you and letting you get to know me.

MIL: What are your first memories of hip-hop music?

YAK: Kurtis Blow (Basketball). "basketball is my favorite sport, i like the way they dribble up and don the court" haaaa!

MIL: Can you tell us about your song "Death List" ?

YAK: I had just lost my home (RICK/KEE-KEE RICK) and that song was an ode to him, just raw emotion from a tragic loss. It had a guy from new york singing on the hook and it alson included my partner (Rence), its a hood classic!

MIL: How much as your music grown from Monumental to Fade 2 Yak?

YAK: M.A.D.E. is my latest effort, but from there to here i feel like im just gelling fully. i feel like being in so many groups has kinda kept me boxed a little but where i stand now musically is serious, I think the worls bout to wake up to me in 2011.
