Prodigy Movements was formed in Brooklyn, New York in 1992 by childhood friends Scorpio, Face and Cutts. Prodigy rapidly built a following based upon their superior style of juggling and their incredible ability to whip any crowd into a frenzy in their sessions. As a result, Prodigy became a local favorite sound playing at area block parties, basement parties and the small area clubs. The first big break came when they clashed Ruff Kutt, who at the time was the bigger up and coming clash sound in Brooklyn. With very few dub plates in their arsenal, Prodigy defeated Ruff Kutt with relative ease. Consequently, Prodigys' name circulated around the tri-state area as a formidable sound that should not be taken lightly.
With no formal individual owner or big money to continue on the clash path Prodigy chose to return to their roots as a juggling sound. However, they slowly began building their dub plate arsenal just in case someone got bright ideas. In 1995, Killa Mike and Bigga Don were approached by Prodigy in New York to start a second branch of Prodigy in South Florida. With their long time friend and fellow Miami selector DJ Dappa, they started a second branch of Prodigy Movements in Miami. In 1999 English Fire joined Prodigy and in 2000 Prodigy was joined by Shadow Star who the team dubbed the 5th Element (being the 5th member) and now the Dream Team was complete. In 2009 Glamaa Fyah joined Prodigy Movements, while English Fire left Prodigy to pursue other opportunities and ventures. The fire burns even hotter.
Prodigy Movements has performed all over Florida, the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. With the ability to cross all racial, socio-economical classes, Prodigy has always been influential in bringing the various groups of dancehall music fans together under one vibe, one energy; we see ourselves as the ALL-PURPOSE sound that plays music to motivate ALL people.
ONE MOVEMENT! PRODIGY MOVEMENTS!
