A native of the south side of Chicago, IL, Kelly DJ Kels Brown has been a music aficionado since a young child. DJ Kels relocated to Jackson, MS to attend Jackson State University (JSU) in the Fall of 2004. During her summers, DJ Kels interned at some of the top fortune 500 companies where she saved money to purchase her dream "DJ Equipment". In the Fall of 2007, DJ Kels returned to Jackson, MS with her CD tables, speaker set, mixer, and music library.

The first gig that placed DJ Kels on the map was a fraternity/sorority event sponsored by Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity entitled "Skee Phi Weekend". That event would open doors to two years of non-stop campus and club gigs: Mansion JXN, Freelon's Bar and Grill, Flood's Bar and Grill, Clarion Hotel, Schimmel's, Telcom Center, Touch/Taste, JSU campus DJ, Tougaloo, and Millsaps College. Fall of 2008 became the semester where DJ Kels got her first taste of the music industry business as a G-Unit Marketing Rep for JSU in the Fall of 2008. DJ Unpredictable of 97.7FM-WRBJ host of the Rickey Smiley Show became DJ Kels' mentor during her time at JSU.

An alumnus of JSU, DJ Kels graduated in May of 2009 and relocated to Washington, D.C. for a job opportunity. The future for Kels in music is promising as she infiltrates the D.C./Baltimore/NYC club and mixtape scene. A current student of the legendary Scratch Academy, DJ Academy in New York, NY, DJ Kels is also an official Coast2CoastDJ. DJ Kels is continuing to master the techniques of the true art of DJing while sharing her skills with the world. Today is only the beginning for DJKels as she continues to feed her passion for music.
