MIL: Music Is Life Magazine is here with One of the Hottest Producers out right now, Cardiak can you Introduce yourself to our readers?
C: What's going on everyone? It's your boy Cardiak.
MIL: How did you get the name Cardiak?
C: When I started out I was going by the name Young C (laughs) I had a session with my homie Kesan ("Gs to Gents" and "ATL")and he gave me the name Cardiak. He told me it would be hot to go by that.Making heart felt music but when you hear that flatline u know I killed it.
MIL: Interesting , When did you first discover music?
C:Music has always been in my family but i really got intomusic around the time Jay-Z dropped "The Blueprint." That was the firstalbum I ever bought that really got me into making music.
MIL: How long have you been Producing?
C:I have been producing for about for about 11 years now.
MIL: Who are some of the Producers that have inspired youpast or present?
C:Some of the producers who have inspired me in the beginningwere Just Blaze, Timbaland, and Dr. Dre. Now all music is an inspiration for me,anything that catches my ear.
MIL: If you had to define your sound, what term would youuse?
C:I would use the term aggressive. I hear a lot of people saythat my sound selection is really strong.
MIL: What have you accomplished so far in your career? Listsome projects?
C:I've produced for artist like 50 Cent, Swizz Beatz, RickRoss, Wale, Jadakiss, Kanye West, Fabolous and many, many others. I have onebeat on Ace Hood's second LP "Ruthless" and four on Lloyd Banks'"Hunger For More 2". My most recent work is the two beats I have on"Self Made" by Maybach Music Group.
MIL: Start It up is one my favorite tracks out right now. Didyou make the track just for Lloyd Banks?
C: Naw (laughs), it was actually a beat I did back in 2008. It wasin an old folder and I just sent it over. I had no idea it would be what it istoday.
MIL: Do you adjust your production techniques to suit each individual artist? Can you give us a specific example?
C:Not really. I take all of that into consideration during thecreation process. That way once I mix it and send it there are no complaints.
MIL: You have 2 tracks on the Maybach Music Group Self Made Vol.1, How does that make you feel?
C: It is a great pleasure to continue working with more artists.Rick Ross is on top of the game right now. The rest of MMG are definitely goingto make a mark and I am honored to work with them all.
MIL: What separates you from other Producers in the gameright now?
C:I take pride in my work and I most importantly remain humble.
MIL: What's the difference between a Producer and a BeatMaker?
C:A beat maker can just put sounds together when a producer has the capability to make a record that an artist would like to use for their project. A producer not only makes the music but can also put the right sounds together and make them all correspond with one another.
MIL: Do you have a favorite song that you have produced?
C:Start It Up because it was my first big record.
MIL: Do you like being in the studio when the artist arerecording the song?
C:Yes. I like to watch what the public hears being made firsthand.
MIL: What projects are you currently working on?
C:(laughs) I have a lot in store. Let's just say you have notheard the last of Cardiak.
MIL: What artists would you like to work with in the future?
C:I would like to work with Drake, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, LadyGaga, etc
MIL: Who or what inspires you to keep on pushing every dayin such a tough industry?
C:My drive to reach the top.
MIL: What are your thoughts on the music industry today?
C:The game is doing better than it was a year or two ago. I like what everybody is doing right now. Keep it up yall. Let's work!
MIL: A lot of Producers aren't getting paid for the tracksthey produce for artist, What are thoughts on that?
C:I wasn't getting paid for a long time until my first major placement. My work on a mixtapes is mostly for promotional use only. I really only expect a check when I make it on someone's album.
MIL: What advice would you give Up and Coming Producers whoare trying to make a name for their self?
C:Continue to work hard at what you do, network and perfectyour craft. Other than that remain humble and the rest should fall into place.
MIL: What can we expect from you for the rest of 2011?
