MIL:What influenced you to become a producer?

G.Q.:: I became a producer by accident. A friend of mine was a artist at the time ,it was it 1st time going to the studio. My friend lie to his manger and told him I made all his beat so I could come to his studio session. After the session his manger ask me to make beats for his other on the label, when he said that my friend panic went out and got me this recording program called Reason, Luckily his manger didn't ask me for beats after that day because im pretty sure those beats would have sucked.lol

4Point0::: Listening to my uncles old records that he left behind when he passes away.

F.Major:: I've always enjoyed many aspects of producing. I used to be the guy to make table beats a beat box for rappers in middle school and high school. I listen to the instrumentation to most songs more than the lyrics usually.

E.Hill:: A friend of mines that raps actually influenced me 2 become a producer he would rap on industry beats all the time and I would always say we would b much better of with our own sound and I wanted b part of it so I start experimenting with it n feel n luv.

MIL: Who are some of the Producers that have inspired you past or present?

G.Q.:: I always been influence my sample based producers even before I knew what sampling was. Some of the producers that inspire me are Bink!, Kanye West, Needlz, Timberland (Drum God) and Rza.

4Point0::: 9th was my biggest influence next to the Neptunes. Also J. Dilla and Madlib. My heaviest influence now is Jeff Bashker.

F.Major:: Kanye West, DJ Danger Mouse, DJ Toomp, Black Milk, The Neptunes, Just Blaze, Timbaland

E.Hill:: Some producers that inspire me are Pete Rock, Dj Primer, 9th Wonder, Timberland, Polow Da Don, Bink, Just Blaze, My Team of course and many many more I can go on for days about producers.

MIL: What have you accomplished so far in your career? List some projects?

G.Q.:: My biggest Accomplishment has been being able to have face to face conversation with business moguls such as 50 cent and being able to shop and get placements on major artist projects for my self and my team with such Artist as Gunit, Jadakiss,Joe Budden, Yung Berg,Crooked I,Emanny,T.Mills, Rich Hil, Maybach Music, Dipset and major Films ...ect.

4Point0::: My first mainstream records were on Joe Budden's "halfway house" album.

F.Major:: I've done tracks for Joe Budden, Jim Jones, well-known baltimore artist Greenspan, I've scored a indie movie that was picked up by Lionsgate.

E.Hill:: So far n my career I have done tracks for G-Unit, Yung Berg, Emanny, T.Mills and a handfull of local artist.

MIL: What's the difference between a Producer and a BeatMaker?

4Point0::: Producers know how to direct a whole studio session from the vocals to the instrumentation. Beat makers do just that...they make beats...

F.Major:: I think people put labels on things when they really dont need them. A producer is a producer no matter what name people try to call it. if you do any aspect of what entails to making music, you're a producer.

E.Hill:: There's a big difference between a producer and a beatmaker. A producer makes the beat and comes up with ideas 4 the hook, a concept 4 the song and just has an overall vision 4 the music that he or she makes. A beatmaker simple just makes the beat and passes it on 2 who ever and let's the do there own thing 2 it.

MIL: Do you adjust your production techniques to suit each individual artist? Can you give us a specific example?

4Point0::: I try not to adjust my style to a specific artist. I just make as much music as possible so Im always prepared. I handle the editing process later.

E.Hill:: I don't really adjust my techniques 2 suit particular artist I'm the same with ever artist I work with!

MIL: People may think that a producers job is to simply create the beat, but what else does it entail?

F.Major:: Artist direction, track formatting, arrangement, mixing and mastering, making sure that the artist does his best to get what he needs to say out on the track to the best of his ability.

MIL:How would you describe your creative process?

4Point0::: I usually start out w/ arranging the environment around so its most comfortable. Then I start building a foundation for the record, usually starting w/ a dope chord progression then a lead line.

E.Hill:: My creative process can b sparked my many different things either something I over hear, a drum loop, a dope melody or either just simply listening 2 the radio I just start with that and build from there until its full enough and makes sense.

MIL:How important is the vibe when you're in the studio working with an artist?

4Point0::: Its important that the people who are in the studio w/ me are supposed to be there...extras take away from the looseness and comfort of the session.

F.Major:: I think that really depends on the kind of person and the kind of producer you are. You can be in a room with an artist, have no connection at all, but still put out awesome product. The same situation can happen, but you vibe well with the artist and you end up putting together possibly the best music they've ever made; or you can put out the worst. It really just depends on you as a producer and an individual.

E.Hill:: The vibe when your working with an artist is very important its kinda like a relationship if y'all r not connecting its not goin work y'all have 2 musically b on the same page for both of u 2 get your ideas out.

MIL:What equipment are you using when producing?

MFS:We all pretty much use the samething. Reason 5, Cool Edit, Recycle, Reason Record, VST's, Akia MPD, Axiom 61,FL studio XXL, Adobe Audition, Ableton Live, records

MIL:What advice would you give to up and coming producers about this industry?

G.Q.:: make sure you have a viral presents. In this business everything is relationship base so always keep a good relationship between you the artist, managers and A&R's.

Fmajor:: Be EXTREMELY smart, creatie and as real to yourself and music as possible. It's easy to lose yourself in a industry like this, so be prepared for anything. Also, always think 10 - 20 steps of everyone.

MIL:Any current projects you want to talk about?

MFS: We are currently working on several artist projects such as T.Mills, Masspike Mills, Pill, Gunplay,Jadakiss, Emanny and a possible video game but we can get to deep into that just yet.

MIL: Who or what inspires you to keep on pushing every dayin such a tough industry?

G.Q.:: My parents. I want to retire them from there jobs one day.

Fmajor:: To be honest, the people around me. Mainly the other producers on my team. We push each other to rise up as much as possible.

G.Q.:: Stay on your grind as much as possible. Network as hard as you can, meaning make everyday you go outside a day someone knows who you are and what you do AND that you do it well. Also, dont burn bridges...as easy as it may be to do so.
