BRAAT Musik/Warner Music Group NEW POP SENSATION, MAIR sits down with me for a look into her world. The World Of BRAAT!

Mocca: Tell me about Mair. Where are you from?

MAIR: Vienna, outside of DC

Mocca: What genre of music do you consider your work to be?

MAIR: I have records in the Pop, Electronica and Alternative genres, but I call my style "Hip Pop," a mixture of popular music and Hip Hop.

Mocca: Who are your major influences?

MAIR: Michael Jackson, Madonna, Slim Shady, Tupac, Blonde, and Brittney Spears.

Mocca: I can definitely see a piece of them in your music, but you're still MAIR.

Mocca: Tell me about the record label?

MAIR: BRAAT MUSIK. It's an Imprint under Warner Music Group, located in Washington, DC. It is under the direction of CEO, Eric Kennedy.

Mocca: Where did the name BRAAT MUSIK come from? What does it mean?

MAIR: BRAAT stands for "Be Real At All Times" in a reflection it means "Be Ready At All Times." BRAAT MUSIK is geared to be an urban style Disney, giving the side of life that is not always perfect.

Mocca: What are some of your most memorable performances to date?

MAIR: I have performed twice at Les Duex, in Los Angeles for Digital Release Parties. The 2009 Grammy Party hosted by Russell Simmons and Global Grind. I've performed in Harlem, DC, VA and Brooklyn USA for the Hip Hop Festivals Family Day Stage. I performed at 4Diamonds Productions Presents "Sexxy In The City, Runway Show." I opened for WUTANG during the Howard University Homecoming and supported and performed at countless community events for kids.

Mocca: What's coming up in the near future?

MAIR: I'm gearing up for my "All Ages" Tour out West and Midwest, starting in September 2010, to help promote my new release "BANG-BANG," which was released on August 31, 2010.

Mocca: Tell me about your single Bang Bang.

MAIR: It will be available from wireless cell phone providers, including ring and caller tones. BANG BANG is an up tempo Hip Hop Style track where I bring attention to all the suburban thugs that are influenced by the gangsta Hip Hop Scene.

Mocca: Which songs do you perform most frequently?

MAIR: I usually perform my present singles, "The Writings on the Wall," which has a music video that you can find on YouTube.com. The other song is "Hey Hey," which is the female anthem and "Mary Alice," which is a song about me personally.

Mocca: What are your favorite songs on the album?

MAIR: I love them all. But, I must say that "Mary Alice" is one of my favorites because I finally became secure about myself, so that song is very dear to me.

Mocca: Who writes your songs?

MAIR: I write my songs, but I do get some help with my hooks from Eric. But, I am a writer.

Mocca: See what I mean people. This young lady is bad, singer/rapper/songwriter and an outstanding performer.

Mocca: What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs?

MAIR: Mainly, real life issues that young people go through, you know, growing pains, insecurities, parties, family issue, but done in an energetic way. No real love songs but a funky, cool way of putting my message out there.

Mocca: Do you think these topics will change over time?

MAIR: Of Course, I'm still young. That is why my upcoming album is titled "Who Am I?" I am still trying to find my place, my purpose. I want to show growth. It will allow my fans the chance to grow, cry and laugh with me.

Mocca: Beautifully put. I am sure your fans will love the experience of growing with you. That's what it's all about, growth, progression and evolving into womanhood.

Mocca: How has your music evolved since you first began?

MAIR: It has evolved big time. I started development when I was 15, so now I understand the recording process. I understand my brand and my vocal skills are stronger. I'm not scared about what people think of me anymore.

Mocca: What advice do you have for people who want to start in this industry?

MAIR: Stay committed, stick with the people who really care for you and don't just do it for the money. This has to be something that you would do for free.

Mocca: How can fans access to your music? Do you have a website?

MAIR: Yep. First, slide through www.BraatMusik.com. In about one week I will launch my fan site www.ChillWithMair.com. There my fans can build their Braat Babies profile.
