Mocca: Where are you from? What was life like growing up there?
SJ: Jamaica Queens New York. It was crazy growing up there but it taught me how to be strong and wise.
Mocca: Tell me a little bit about your family.
SJ: My family is big my grandma is the last of 18 kids and from antigua West Indias. My mom is from St. Thomas and My dad from Trinidad. My baby sister and brother are my life JP and JR.
Mocca: How and when did you get started in the music industry?
SJ: I got started in this industry with the guides of God Brother Norman Tillman in 1999 and my mentor Jeannie "Kitty of The City" Jones in 2006
Mocca: Tell me about M'Pire Entertainment.
SJ: M'Pire Management Wow this is my baby. My company is what keeps me grounded. It is a company where everyone is family and there vision and goals are a Priority to me and my Team to get where it is needed.
Mocca: Who are the members of M'Pire?
SJ: The members of my company is Me CEO, Tammy Russell Publicist, Cerese Beckles Accountant.
Mocca: You manage DJ Gemini of 93.9 WKYS. When and how did he become one of your clients?
SJ: Dj Gemini and I are good friends. I started managing him in 2008 when we did an event together and I heard him mix it blew me away.
Mocca: What exactly is your role for your clients?
SJ: My role to my clients is to execute there Goals and keep them in a positive light.
Mocca: What other clients do you manage?
SJ: I do work for others on special project like Jeannie Jones, Big daddy Iran, Dj Red Money, Musiq Soulchild and Dj Booman just to name a few. I manage Dj Gemini and Dc Don Juan on a full time bases and other client contracts to review.
Mocca: What other services does your company provide?
SJ: My company does a few things PR, Event Planning, Artist Development and Marketing.
Mocca: What kinds of community involvement does your company support?
SJ: My company does a few community events one is I donate clothing to a family in nyc and spend a lot of time with kids motivating them to stay in school and reach for the stars. My organization The Laurel Lightening Allstars a Allstar CheerLeading Team
Mocca: Who are some of your affiliates, people you work closely with?
SJ: JRL booking, DJ Amaz, Major Leagues Unlimited, ShadyVille Djs, Encore PR, and Moccastyles.
Mocca: What projects have you worked on in the past?
SJ: Baby Battle, DMV Idol with Jeannie Jones, Fridays at Love The Club
Mocca: You get to meet many people in your line of work. Who did you meet that was most memorable for you?
SJ: Musiq Soulchild what a great man he is. He is so motivational and inspiring that it is a joy to be around him.
Mocca: Let's talk about your current projects and future projects.
SJ: My current projects are to expand my company and take on new projects to push my clients further. Future projects is to be a house hold name.
Mocca: Do you get to travel a lot with this position? Where are some of places you've visited?
SJ: Yes I travel often. Chicago, Minneapolis, Philly, Vegas, Canada just to name a few.
Mocca: Your name is becoming more popular by the day. The person to know, the person to meet. How does that make you feel?
SJ: It makes me feel great, honored and blessed. I try to stay humble day to day and loyal that is what keeps you on top.
Mocca: What's your most memorable phone call, compliment, and piece of advise you were given. Who was it from?
SJ: You are the best and a true life saver. You are always there when I need you and never look down on people. My family and friends.
Mocca: What's your views on the music industry as it stands today?
SJ: The industry is tricky you have to grind and set different records other wise you will not be relevant.
Mocca: In a short period of time, you have made outstanding progress. You have truly become a woman of power and managed to stay strong, considerate and humble. What your advise to other young woman wanting to get into the industry dominated by men?
SJ: The only advise I can give is keep God First and have a lot of self respect. Another thing is stay true to yourself and never say you can't.
Mocca: Tell us, what makes Shaq a woman of power?
SJ: Shaq is a women of power cause I never take No for an answer I'm aggressive, determined and blessed with my talent.
