Being fresh represents a new, innovative element to something that would otherwise be ordinary. Over the last couple of years, Carol City rapper Phatz, a.k.a. Marty McFly, introduced his own style of freshness to the Florida hip-hop sound. Phatz bridges the gap between the fly life and the hood life. “If you hear my music you wouldn’t immediately know I’m from Dade,” explains the multi-dimensional lyricist. “I’ve been blessed to live all around the world. I been down here for the last 15 years so that’s soaked up in me, but through my music you hear a lot of different influences."

Though he’s only been rapping for a short time, Phatz developed his rhyming skills long before stepping into a booth. While MCing for 99 Jamz’ DJ Entice and promoting for nightclubs, Phatz built a foundation for his approaching rap career. Through longtime production acquaintance, Jackpot Music Group (Rick Ross, DJ Khaled, Brisco), Phatz was introduced to the professional recording studio, where he began making music. Shortly thereafter he released his first mixtape, It’s So Easy, which was met with good reviews.

During his recording endeavors, Phatz also linked up with respected producers like The Blackout Movement, Kane Beatz, and local composer Midus – giving Phatz a balanced blend of music for his growing audience. Phatz’ formed his own independent label Fly or Die after his initial project took off. Joined with Valholla Entertainment, the label that released Phatz’ debut tape, Valholla then produced a second effort titled DopeBoiFresh. Through viral promotions, street team campaigns, and heavy word of mouth, the mixtape brought a lot of shine to the new comer. The lead single “Celebration” was spotlighted on 99 Jamz’, introducing Phatz as the future of Miami.

The song’s instant popularity and increasing radio spins have let Phatz and Valholla Entertainment the release a video. “It’s a club record, but it’s not your average club record,” he explains the appeal of “Celebration.” “It’s like that type of record you play on birthdays or when you just poppin’ bottles and actin’ a fool.”

Coming a long way from the fast street life that shaped him, Phatz’ has plenty of reasons to celebrate nowadays. The mistakes and hardships of his past prepared him for the success he currently enjoys. From performing at shows featured on BET’s College Hill, to collaborating with reggae artist Jr. Reid, Phatz takes his journey one step at a time, each one leading him to the next level.

“As far as music is concerned, I wanna develop artists one day,” he says about his long term goals. “I want to see someone young and talented build their dream. This outlet is gonna help me get to the point where I’ll be somebody that has a stamp in the game."

As a trendsetter, Phatz is making his mark. His forthcoming EP and debut music video will only heighten his movement and elevate his status. With a fresh sound, confident style, and charismatic image, Phatz far beyond the average ordinary rapper. “From top to bottom I’m different. I stand out,” he promises.

Born in Baltimore MD, and raised throughout the Washington D.C. area, Marcus Branch a.k.a Max Pain fell in love with music at a young age while listening to his mother, who sang faithfully every Sunday in the church choir. This early exposure gave Pain the insight and knowledge into what was considered "good music" to the masses. In high school, he began learning and playing every percussion instrument such as drums, congos, and timbales when he and close friends formed a local band, which garnered them a lot of popularity amongst the local music lovers. He then began to expand a talent that would become one of many within the music industry when he was given tools of the trade such as the MPC4k, Roland, Phantom, and Juno by his now C.E.O Ernie Peddles, of Platoon Records. Honing his new found craft, Max Pain, a member of BMI, began his true love for music by writing lyrics and began recording hip-hop tracks for Platoon Records that have been acknowledged as having a different flow than most rap artists, and has gained national recognition. With tracks such as "Stuntin" featuring former No Limit artist/producer Fiend, the remix "Stop Schemin'" with well known New York based female mc Lady Luck. and also wrote lyrics, rapped, and co-produced the mixtape "The Stimulus Package" along with Dj Dutty Laundry. Max Pain produced and co-wrote lyrics with a single called"Art of Noise", a remake of the very popular classic "Moments in Love" from Art of Noise. Max Pain is currently working on a solo project and has made successful efforts in reaching a national fan base with his single "Sassy". Pain has also traveled to different cities across the nation and performed live shows with major artists Young Buck, Trina, Busta Rhymes, YoungBloodz, and Young Jeezy.
