Witty, Confident, Intelligent; these are just a couple of adjectives to describe JC Dot, an artist cultivated in D.C, and evolved in Montgomery County, Maryland. As early as his childhood, JC Dot recalls memorizing lyrics to a song, and singing to them every opportunity presented. He became influenced at an early age by 97.1 WASH FM, a local soft rock radio station that his mother would never change the dial for. This instilled the love for all different styles of music for JC Dot. Music like power ballads, love songs, and other sounds that were in constant rotation, developed him as the artist he is today. JC’s parents are from El Salvador, making him very aware of his culture, and the struggles that they came from to make a better living for JC Dot. His love for writing flourished from having the ability to write poetry, a hobby that he enjoyed doing as a teenager. His early life full of rebellious wrongdoings eventually got him into a therapeutic Juvenile Rehabilitation Facility. This was the turning point in JC Dot’s life, because it stamped his ability to be a creative and powerful hip hop artist. He created some of his best pieces while in solitude, appreciating his gift to write. He has been recording music for about four years which has embarked lyrical strength and a versatile sound to all kinds of listeners. JC is passionate about sending positive messages to fans and living out his goals and dreams through his songs. Some people might interpret his confidence for being superficial, because he talks about things he wants to have, but as JC explains, “No I don’t have a Bentley, no I don’t have a G5, I’m not flying on private jets, but I feel like it’s an aspiration. It’s definitely an aspiration that everyone would like to reach at some point. And if you don’t, then you can just put in one of my songs and believe it for at least those 3 minutes that you’re listening to it.” JC respectfully compares his sound to accredited rappers such as the Notorious B.I.G for his demeanor, and Nas for being lyrically talented and for his intelligence. These were also his biggest musical inspirations. JC continues to create a bigger following by hosting events for his past two mixtapes, “Notorious” and “Aviator”, attending open mic nights, and constantly making new music for people to relate to him as an artist. He can be described as the whole package; for not only does he write his music, but he also sings his hooks, pouring his heart and soul into a song. Attempting to break stereo types, JC Dot strongly believes that hip hop is missing intelligence, and that he can be a great attribute to that. He wants to prove that there is such thing as being a musical genius who creates amazing pieces, and who can also embody the power of knowledge. JC is a confident artist who raps about his goals, and the struggles he endured to attain them. His music represents upward mobility, and the drive to make dreams his reality. The love of music is embedded in JC , and very soon, the world

The world hasn't seen an emcee like Dynasty before. It's rare when an artist combines heartfelt storytelling, commanding stage presence, and a deep and palpable audience connection. The soul of Lauryn Hill, and the ruff neck swagger of MC Lyte, all appropriate descriptions for the femcee, D.Y. It's easy to make comparisons when you start talking about female emcees. D.Y. herself says "I'm complimented by comparisons to Lauryn" but one look at her live and you'll see that she truly holds her own in this game.

Born and raised in Queens, Dynasty (Diana Hardy) has always found herself at the center of attention. She was the kid that was always doing something to entertain the family. Whether making up a dance to BBD's "Poison" in the front yard or playing "the song that grandma liked" on the piano for guests, life often seemed like a stage. She attended a small performing arts college on Long Island, Five Towns College. After graduating with her Associate degree in Theatre Arts, she wasn't sure how she would pay to continue on for her Bachelor's degree. The grants had run out and financial aid wasn't offering much. Believing in her dream, the president of the school offered to waive the balance on her tuition. Because of this, you will often hear her say "I'm the first rap chic with a rap scholarship."

The soul of a dreamer, and the fearless determination to follow that dream wherever it might lead, her presence on stage is a guaranteed, take no prisoners, always leave them wanting more, show stealer. D.Y. has lit up shows opening for The Wu-Tang Clan, Mos Def, Bid Daddy Kane, KRS One, AZ and more. A Wu-Tang Clan crowd will not stand for anything less than ruff, rugged, and raw, so you know she has skills. But it's her performance on records that truly sets Dynasty in a class all her own. While she has an affinity for hard beats and raw hip hop artists such as MOP and Slaughterhouse, she often finds inspiration from artists on the opposite side of the spectrum like the soulful Erykah Badu and the timeless, Ella Fitzgerald. Never caught up in writing "formula rap" as she calls it, Dynasty writes from the heart and only makes music that's good for the soul and at the same time, remains a beast on the mic. Rhyming ever since she was a kid, it wasn't until she moved to Tampa, FL and opened for Little Brother that she really got the push that she needed to take her career to the next level. At that show, she linked with her dj, DJ Sandman. From that point on, she's been pushin' even harder for her dream and it appears that it is within reach.

Dynasty has been slowly making a name for herself, turning heads locally and all over the world thanks to a co-sign from DJ Premier who put her last single "Femcee" on his "On Tha Road Again" mixtape. Her first project, Dreampusher, tells a story of transcendence, hope, and is universal in its themes. She lets you know who she is by touching on everything from love and life to letting you know "there's nothin' feminine about killin’ an emcee".

Her passion transcends the stage; her mass appeal transcends all boundaries. There is no "set demographic" for D.Y., no gimmick, no crafted agenda aside from making beautiful music. She rocks for the grown folks, the kids and people from all walks of life. Rightfully so, soul music touches the world.

"Inside there's a flame that is untamed/ I stand strong in the rain, I am unchanged/ til the earth takes me in & I'm reclaimed/ when the sound stops still make the ground hot.. and I don't do it for the fame/ I got nothin' to lose but have everything to gain/ and when its all said and done..I will remain, pushin' my dream forever your girl, D.Y. remember the name.." - Dynasty.

Young men crossing paths with similar stories to Common’s “I Still Love H.E.R.” was all it took to bring “newtypes” Big Chopps, Vaughn Garcia, Scoopay and Sean D. together as the self proclaimed illest group in America, M1 Platoon. With each member holding a special portion of self eccentricity, it’s only right to believe that the plan for the collective was predestined.

But of course, the squad didn’t develop over night. In fact, the seed multiplied over the years, sprouting in new opportunities along the way. Going back early school days in Washington, D.C., the friendship between Big Chopps and Vaughn Garcia sparked everything and birthed the idea for an initial rap group. The two combined their love for hip-hop and created their first rap group titled Flo Fiends, which also included long time friend and M1 affiliate, Nate Grey. But of course, just like most premature rap groups the first rap name changed, causing the Flo Fiends alias to die and to confine a continuous brotherhood.

After high school, the boys knew they wanted to take their rap career serious, but they also knew they wanted to part take in higher learning. Chopps and Garcia, along with M1 affiliates Nate Grey and Fuego studied their college universities precisely and moved down south to North Carolina Central University, where they knew Grammy Award winning producer Patrick “9th Wonder” Douthit resided as an instructor of the university’s “Hip-Hop in Context” class.

When the gang moved down to NC, the crew met fellow DMV residents Scoopay and Sean D. during their freshmen year. The common interest for hip-hop prevailed again, adding two more brothers to gang. Closing the seal on the new and improved rap collective, the boys finally came together as a force to be reckoned with and the name M1 Platoon (standing for Murder One Platoon) was birthed. Shortly after, M1 adopted the turntable skills of local Raleigh, NC disc jockey Gonzo, who serves as the group’s official DJ on the 1s and 2s.

Executing the original plan, the platoon utilized their access to 9th Wonder and quickly took to the producer as their mentor "uncle 9th," mastering their craft in music production (Vaughn Garcia) and crisp lyricism. During their time at NCCU, M1 released their debut mixtape titled M1 Invasion, which featured the classic single “BOOYYEEE!!!,” produced by 9th Wonder. The mixtape followed by two other releases from the We Not Them series, part 1 & 2.

Being that M1 is sicker than your average, they may be hard to understand. Though the emcees we know today are known to be the fabulous four “Heat Team,” there once was a time when the group used to be composed of five. Former member C4 Black from Chapel Hill, NC was an essential part of M1 while at NCCU. But still holding strong, the remaining brothers moved on to continue their enthusiasm for music.

The complex sounds of M1 come from various influences. While producer Vaughn Garcia continuously stays digging vinyl crates, the influences and samples of sound can range anywhere from exampled artists Pete Rock, Super Cat, J Dilla, to go-go band, TCB. The mixture of genres also results in a high energized show backed with witty lyricism and groovy dance movement.

As of date, M1 has had the pleasure of opening and sharing the stage with notable acts including: Little Brother, 9th Wonder, Murs, Evidence of Dilated Peoples, Jean Grae, Sean Price, Chaundon, Skyzoo, Torae, Jozeemo, Media, Carlitta Durand, L.E.G.A.C.Y., Kooley High, Blu & Exile and Donny Goines.

Till this day, M1 continues to bless the masses with out-the-box composition. I believe they’ll continue to do so till they came convince the humanity that they’re the "illest in America."
