When you pop in a cd and hear a unique sound of urban R&B, a strong soulful voice singing about his life situations living in the city of Boston, Ma, that means you are listening to the New England Urban Music Awards 2009 Male R&B artist of the year “ Mr. Keys”. Mr. Keys started singing as young boy in the Charles St. AME church in Boston, Mass. Throughout his teenage years he was part of an R&B group named “Climax”. He eventually came to realize his desire to go solo. It has not been easy for Mr. Keys to get where he is today, there have been bridges to cross and barriers to overcome, which he says has helped him to understand life and become the man he is today. At the age of 26 Mr. Keys is currently working on his mixtape which he hopes to release in August of 2009. If he is not in the studio going hard than you can catch him hosting events ( where he tends to express his comedian side) or djaying in local Boston clubs which just goes to show how dedicated and versatile he is when it comes to his love for music. Mr. Keys has a personality like no other. He is a people person foremost which makes it very easy for him to get along with everybody and also helps him get an insight as to what his fans want so that he can deliver. He possesses a certain charisma which attracts people of all types and he makes it his goal to please them all and that kind of devotion is what already makes him a star.

Born in a place where it was so dangerous that when there’s beef the government cant really do too much about. Street wars, poverty, and anything else that have to do with violence is the life in Africa. On September 14, 1988 a soulja was born in the heart of the gutters of ghettos. His parents wanted him and his brothers to grow up in a safe and better environment. So they move to America, Washington DC, in a place where it was similar to where they have came from. Around the age of 4 going on 5 was how old he was when they arrived, “I remember practically learning how to count by listening to the gunshots every night when we first got here” says Erie Ave. Years flew by, and Erie Ave started to adapt, and became the problem child. Even though growing up in a big family Erie Ave always felt lonely, so he isolated his self and did whatever he wanted and didn’t care about anything. “I believe that feeling of loneness came from not really getting along with my brothers and sisters, and my parents or anyone else not understanding me” says Erie Ave. Moving to places all the time till they ended up in Maryland where at the age of 11 Erie Ave started running the streets, and started kicking it with two of his home boys Name Keino(Klutch) and Dialo(D). They formed up a small lil click together and started rapping, never serious about it so they just freestyle all the time on the corner or anywhere they can. “I never got the love at home that I felt as though I needed, so I ran the streets, where I felt as though I was home” says Erie Ave. Growing up in a broken home with a lot of financial problems lead Erie Ave to become a hustla, making money by any means necessary, school was nowhere near in mind. He stared to live a dangerous life, but didn’t matter to much to him, “As long as I can survive” says Erie Ave. He have been stabbed and shot at the age of 14 and many more deadly situations occurred in his Thug Life. He have been to several juvenile facility’s, but the last one that he was in really had him thinking about this rap game. So with that in his mind he started to get serious and writing lyrics day and night, so he got out and started revealing the talent that he possess.
