"A Beautiful Thing" - Whitefolkz
Total package on this song. Great concept, great hook, great beat. One of the top artist in the DMV shows why with this song. If you ever been to a Topp Dogg Hill show then you can relate to this song. If you ever heard of Whitefolkz then you can definitely relate. This guy is more conceited than me, if that's possible! All jokes aside the song comes on with Folkz telling of a long weekend which lands a pretty lady in his bed. The rest is a journey through his life of music, parties and groupies. The hook explains it all - "to the girls who know all our songs/ & be at all our shows, well u can sing along/ it goes, i love me and I love you/ its such a, beautiful thing when they play our music"

By looking at the title you would probably think that this was going to be a party song, you'd be wrong. It is one of the realest songs I've heard before. I grew up in Northeast DC, so I can relate to the things Kash said in this song. The first line that caught my attention was on the 1st verse when he says "& niggas all crazy, so you betta have two rubbers/ two types, u don't get two strikes, so one love bruh". That's deep. He makes you feel the struggle and hardships that some face in this area with other lines like "if yall sleepin, this aint South Beach/ aint no sunshine, just drive thru Southeast". He is dead on with his depiction of what a lot of us in the DMV see daily, he even talks about the AIDS pandemic that is conquering our area. Even though the song is talking about serious issues it doesn't have a dark feel to it. In my opinion, this keep the attention of the listener. This is definitely a track you should hear!

What can I say about this song except that I LOVE IT. When I was first heard it, I played it five times back to back. That's saying a lot. Its no wonder that Kyonte' is Grammy nominated. Body Shop is one of the songs where you can listen to it and sing along, your vocal skills aside. Kyonte' manages to describe his feelings for a lady in a unique way. His perspective of being able to have any woman he wants but choosing this one special lady is definitely something I can understand. The beauty of the song is both males and females can relate with lines like "baby step into my body shop, girl I don't wanna change ya" or "I've been so many places, seen so many faces, but none like you". Everyone should have this song as part of their playlist. Turn it up to to your speakers bust and sing along. That's what I do!
